PURETANN® is the most natural leather and the first of its kind in Australia.
Unlike most leathers that are tanned with chromium, PURETANN® is tanned exclusively with vegetable extracts, such as pods of the Tara tree, grown in the temperate climate of the Peruvian Andes.
No loss of habitat: The pods are picked without destroying the Tara tree – allowing it to bear more fruit.
No chromium or synthetic tanning agents: The hides are tanned with pure vegetable extracts, giving an unbelievably soft, luxurious feel and appearance.
No salts or preserving agents: The hides are sourced within a 500 km radius of the tannery, negating the need for salts and preserving agents.
No heavy metal dyes and auxiliaries: PURETANN is coloured using heavy-metal-free dyes and auxiliaries that are not harmful to the environment or human health.
No artificial coatings: No artificial coatings to conceal nature’s gifts which are proudly on display, making each hide unique.
Zero or Low-VOC emissions: With no finish or coating on the surface, PURETANN is certified as low-VOC, meeting the Green Star – Office Interiors emission requirements. A report is available on request.
Reusable, recyclable and 100% biodegradable: PURETANN is fully biodegradable (chromium tanning reduces the ability of the leather to biodegrade).
